So, you've got a big event/party/show coming up, you've Googled for a Costume Designer, you've found me, Crazy Costume Queen, you've had a look around my website, and now you're ready for me to bring your costume idea to life!
What happens now?
1. Give Me The Deets!
The more detail you can give me on your original enquiry, the better. It's great if you can let me know what the costume will be for, so I can consider things like needing to get it on and off easily, breathable fabrics for warmer conditions, etc. I'll also need to know your budget, your timeframe for completion, your measurements and as much detail as you know about how you'd like your costume to look. Some people like to be quite particular, others are happy for me to add a touch of 'crazy' and make it extra special. The choice is yours!
2. Time to Design!
Once I know all I need to know, I often sketch out an idea of your finished look which I will send to you to ensure we're on the same wavelength about all aspects of your design. I may send or ask you to send inspiration pictures if your idea is quite niche, but this is not essential and really depends on your unique requirements. Once I know your budget I can also discuss options to reduce cost if need be, including more affordable fabric options, or if you're looking for something extra spectacular, I can discuss some additional features that will really make your finished look POP!
3. Create, Create, Create!
Once your costume is designed with all elements agreed, now it's time for me to get to work. I can update you on the process as I go, or leave it a surprise until the costume is finished. You are welcome to come for a fitting at an additional fee for me to completely tailor your costume to you, however this is not necessary if I have all of your required measurements accurately noted. I make sure that each and every costume that I design has my full heart and soul in it - it will truly be the most special design for you!
4. Special Delivery!
I will then post your design to you ready in time for your big event. If you ever have any questions, I am always on hand along the whole journey.
